First off, if you have space, drag in the Sidebar Toolbar button: right click anywhere on your firefox toolbar and select customize. From the dialog, drag and drop the small square Map icon where you want it to reside.
As well as this Sidebar button, there are a number of ways to launch the sidebar and map tab (the Map Preview Panel is discussed elsewhere. It is best if you get familiar with the sidebar first as the Preview Panel is a subset of it's functionality). You can use View > Sidebar > Minimap, or select 'Open Minimap Sidebar' or 'Open Map Tab', and finally right-click anywhere on a page and select 'Open Minimap Sidebar' or 'Open Map Tab'. We are now going to set your home coordinates and default address. Click on the Add Address toolbarbutton on the far right of Minimap toolbar and select 'Add Address/Location from the drop down menu. A dialog will prompt you for a Title, eg. My Home, an address and optionally a website URL and description. Type in the values for your home or office and hit OK. All being well your address should geocode, add a blue marker to the map, pan to it and add an addresslist item. If an exact match cannot be found, you may well find that the extension offers a list of possible matches. Click on the one that matches what you are after and then it will be added. That's the initial setup complete, and we can now begin to explore Minimaps functions in greater detail - use the Help Links to the right or use the drop down menu navigation.
